Scott Brown

Partner (Chairman)

Scott Brown, Partner (Chairman), founded New Energy Capital (NEC) in 2004 and has served as its CEO, overseeing all aspects of company formation, deal origination, execution, and management for NEC, a Victory Capital Investment Franchise. Earlier in his career, Scott served as the founding Executive Vice President at Solar Cells, Inc. (now First Solar), the President of Glasstech Solar, Inc. (a manufacturer of semiconductor equipment for the solar industry), and consultant to venture capital firms and state agencies on renewable technologies and markets. From 1998-2005, Scott was a member of the Advisory Council of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to his career in the renewable energy industry, Scott was a consultant at Bain & Company. Scott is a graduate of Dartmouth College (BA in Mathematics and Russian Studies) and Harvard Law School (JD).

Patrick Fox

Partner

Patrick Fox, Partner, is responsible for deal origination, evaluation, structuring, and execution at New Energy Capital (NEC), a Victory Capital Investment Franchise. Patrick has a decade of experience in energy and finance. Prior to joining NEC, Patrick was a Director in the origination and project finance group at Hannon Armstrong Capital, where he led and participated in over $250 million of project financings, primarily for solar and wind energy projects. Before Hannon Armstrong Capital, Patrick was a Principal at Pacific Gas and Electric Company where he negotiated, structured, and executed over $2 billion in power purchase agreements (PPAs). He began his civilian career at Merrill Lynch in the Debt Capital Markets group. His experience includes transactions in solar PV, solar thermal, geothermal, wind, biomass, and renewable energy credits (REC). Prior to his career in energy, Patrick was a U.S. Air Force Pilot where he served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Patrick is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy (BS in Economics) and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College (MBA).

Bennett Collier

Partner

Bennett Collier, Partner, is primarily responsible for portfolio asset management, as well as investment evaluation and execution at New Energy Capital (NEC), a Victory Capital Investment Franchise. Prior to joining NEC, Bennett developed power assets at Terra-Gen Power. At Terra-Gen, he managed activities including real estate acquisition, permitting, engineering, interconnection, and power marketing for multiple investments, including the 1,300 megawatt Alta Wind Energy Center in Kern County, California, as well as geothermal power projects in Nevada and California. Before Terra-Gen, Bennett spent six years in the engineering and operations organizations at Pratt & Whitney as a project and design engineer for gas turbine hardware and a manufacturing supervisor managing assembly of multiple gas turbine engine families. Bennett is a graduate of Clarkson University (BS in Mechanical Engineering), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (MS in Mechanical Engineering), and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College (MBA).

Tom Naughton

Partner

Tom Naughton, Partner, is responsible for investor relations. Tom was previously an Adjunct Associate Professor and the Executive Director of the Center for Private Equity & Entrepreneurship at the Tuck School of Business. Prior to Tuck, Tom was Managing Director and Founder of NeoCarta Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm. Before forming NeoCarta, Tom was Vice President at GE Equity, the private equity arm of General Electric and GE Capital. Tom is a graduate of Dartmouth College (BA in Mathematics) and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College (MBA).

Po Cheng

Principal

Po Cheng, Principal, tracks and manages key aspects of multiple portfolio investments and relationships at New Energy Capital (NEC), a Victory Capital Investment Franchise. Prior to joining NEC, Po was a key member of the Investment and Business Development team at Eversource Energy where he was responsible for evaluating emerging industry trends and potential investments. Po has worked in the electric utility and power sectors for more than twenty years and has deep buy-side investment experience as a long/short utility hedge fund portfolio manager and analyst. Po is a CFA® charterholder and is a graduate of Rutgers College (BA in Economics) and Rutgers Business School (MBA).

Brad Heshmaty

Vice President

Brad Heshmaty, Vice President, is responsible for financial modeling, valuation, and investment and industry diligence at New Energy Capital (NEC), a Victory Capital Investment Franchise. Prior to joining NEC in 2017, Brad was an Analyst in the Global Power, Energy & Infrastructure Group at Lazard in New York. While at Lazard, he worked on a variety of transactions in the power, energy, and infrastructure sectors, including strategic advisory and merger and acquisition assignments totaling over $35 billion in aggregate transaction value. Brad is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (BS in Business Administration).

Bridget Youngs

Senior Associate

Bridget Youngs, Associate, is responsible for financial modeling, valuation, and investment and industry due diligence at New Energy Capital (NEC), a Victory Capital Investment Franchise. Prior to joining NEC in 2020, she was an Investment Banking Analyst within the Global Energy Group at Evercore Partners. While at Evercore, Bridget worked on a variety of transactions in the energy, infrastructure, and renewables sectors. Bridget graduated with a BA in Mathematical Economic Analysis from Rice University and received her MA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University.

Alex Hall

Controller

Alex Hall, Controller, is primarily responsible for overseeing the financial management and execution of transactions at New Energy Capital (NEC), a Victory Capital Investment Franchise. Prior to joining NEC in 2017, Alex was a Data & Systems Analyst for Holderness School in their Advancement Office where he oversaw the data integrity, collection, and entry for their relationship management database. Alex has also worked at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center as a Software Analyst and worked on the implementation and maintenance of their electronic medical records software to comply with federal guidelines. Alex is a graduate of Dartmouth College (BA in Psychology).

Curt Whittaker

External Legal Counsel

Curt Whittaker has spent over 30 years in the renewable energy industry as legal counsel to developers, investors, and lenders, working on landfill gas, wind, hydroelectric, solar, and biomass development projects. Curt has worked with the New Energy Capital (NEC), a Victory Capital Investment Franchise, since 2004, serving as lead external counsel on the majority of NEC’s investment activities related to biomass, bio-materials, hydroelectric, landfill gas, and solar development and serving from time to time on certain investment advisory committees. Curt is a senior partner and head of the Energy Practice at Rath, Young & Pignatelli in Concord, NH. Prior to working with Rath, Young & Pignatelli, Curt was a member of the Energy Practice at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, California. Curt’s legal practice spans all aspects of the development and financing of renewable generation facilities in the United States and Canada, from site acquisition through EPC negotiations to construction and term financing. Curt is a graduate of the College of William & Mary (BA in Economics) and Harvard Law School (JD).
